Australian Studies
The Centre for Australian Studies, which is situated in the Department of English, Germanic and Romance Studies, houses a broad range of expertise in the fields of politics, literature, film, the visual arts and history, and runs an active programme of visiting scholars.
Each spring semester we are joined by a visiting Professor sponsored by DEEWR, and Monash University's National Centre for Australian Studies supports a visiting Monash Fellow. We also have a number of 'associate' members of the team, consisting of former staff at Copenhagen University as well as Australian Studies scholars working at neighbouring universities.
Our activities include seminars, conferences, prose and poetry readings, student field trips, and a wide range of graduate and undergraduate courses. We do not offer an Australian studies degree, but our students take our courses for credit in a range of degrees, primarily in the English Department but also History, Comparative Literature and Media Studies.
