Stuart Ward is an Associate Professor, specialising in Australian history and political culture. He holds a BA (hons) degree in History from the University of Queensland, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Sydney.
He has been in Copenhagen since 2003, having previously held appointments at the European University Institute in Florence (1991-1994), the University of Southern Denmark (1996-2000) and the Menzies Centre for Australian Studies, King’s College London (2001-2003).
He has published various books and articles on ‘Britishness in Australia’ and Australia’s relations with the European Union. His current research focuses on Australian nationalism and the break-up of the British World. He is co-editor of the Australian volume of the ‘Oxford History of the British Empire’, and also founding editor of the ‘Australasia and Pacific’ section of Blackwells History Compass.
